There’s some quality racing throughout the afternoon with the centrepiece the £50,000 Class 1 Listed Hillhouse Quarry Handicap Chase.
There have been some terrific renewals of this race over the years and last year’s was right up there with the best with Two Taffs from the Dan Skelton yard and ridden by Davy Russell staying on well inside the final furlong to beat Nicky Henderson’s Theinval.
A race that always has runners from some of the very top stables in the country the Hillhouse Quarry Chase is synonymous with the opening day of this fantastic Festival.
The main supporting race on the card is the £30,000 coral.co.uk Mares Handicap Hurdle over three miles and half a furlong and this staying hurdle was won last year by Jennys Melody, trained by Ben Arthey in Northern Ireland. This game mare was winning the race for the second time having also been successful in 2015.
The best Dressed Lady on Ladies Day will win a fabulous prize so dress to impress girls and enjoy a super glam day out at the races.
